Co-host Sean introduces the crew to the music of American flutist Ernie Mansfield. A gifted composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist, this 1983 release on Catero Records demonstrates his somewhat uncategorizable blend of jazz, classical, and beyond.

Thank you so much for your podcast! Much appreciated! To answer your questions brought up in the podcast: (1) Paris Has Me and vocals: it was my decision to have just an instrumental album. John Quick actually wrote the lyrics after I have already produced the instrumental. But I wanted to include his name. I’m glad you mentioned the vocal version that is on my later album French Imporessions & Latin Themes, available on fact, all my albums are available on Bandcamp, even the Catero albums. I was the producer of the albums and always owned the master recordings. In fact, I even have some original Catero LPs here that I can sell through the Bandcamp site. I guess I never got around to posting them on my Bandcamp site, but I will do so soon. However, unfortunately, I will have to sell them for much more than one dollar!! (2) The Bird Sounds,,,, they were actually created by a percussion instrument that Glenn Cronkhite had. You can Google ”bird whistle percussion instrument” and find examples of these. ~~ Ernie Mansfield
